If you listen to that particular tune, the next one WoTLK Gold is probably going to occur by default, and that is rushing to the server first. You do not want to rush the server before, the players who don't have fun playing the game will be those who achieve this achievement.

Chances are even if you did your best, even if you've never done months and months of planning work working on tens or hundreds of thousand of goals in order to complete it ahead of time, you're likely not going to get any server-first achievements by all means but if you're willing to play around with, try it, you may well be lucky. Don't get discouraged if you don't succeed because in reality, the ones who are likely to succeed are those who have spent a lot of effort, time and money into their ability to achieve this.

In terms of money, if there are any remaining goals that you're prepared to sell before the day of launch it is a wise investment to be consumables which you are likely to pop like candy. Anyone who wants to be optimal, will realize that the utter collapse of almost all the marketplaces related to TBC and related Professional Crafts, including consumables will allow you to pick up most of the things that are going to maximize your character at a price that is extremely low.

This means that you can have very large boosts to performance with little or no cost. If it puts you just a little bit ahead of the majority of players when you're leveling cheap WoTLK Gold, this will mean much more than the small amount of gold you could have saved by not purchasing these consumables.
