Russia is a great country, but you definitely need to visit it before actually moving there. I was applying for a tourist visa on this service https://www.russia-travel.com/visa-services/, so you can check it out as well, and it won't take you long to get the visa. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed, especially if you consider Moscow or St Petersburg.
