Nikon FF Mirrorless: Use DX spec?

Nikon has FX (full frame), DX (APS-C), and now they're talking about a full-frame mirrorless camera. I'm wondering if the engineering could help them leverage their #1 asset--the existing library of FX and DX lenses.

It makes no sense to support FX, DX, and I'll call it MX (mirrorless). There are many other problems with the CX format, but it required a buildout of lenses that takes too many resources.

If it's possible to leverage smaller DX lenses (maybe with an adapter?), then Nikon can:

Get the "smaller hardware" benefits of mirrorless (FX image with DX lens)
Leverage legacy lenses (i.e., sell lenses for existing cameras and the MX)
Support migration of existing users (i.e., sell cameras to existing users)
Reduce immediate development resources for new lenses
Limit damage to DX and FX sales (no guessing about which format will be favored)
Unlike CX, any adapter should be free with purchase of a camera. Charging $200 for the FT1 adapter was madness.

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
